KUALA LUMPUR – SELangkah has denied a claim cast by the Covid-19 Immunisation Task Force (CITF) that it is involved in registering individuals for the AstraZeneca vaccination without prior approval.
Its CEO Tengku Ieasta Tengku Alaudin in a statement said CITF’s accusation is baseless given that SELangkah is not involved in the booking of the AstraZeneca vaccination slots.
CITF has not contacted SELangkah, he refuted, despite the task force saying otherwise.
“SELangkah will not hesitate to take legal action against any party that issues false claims to tarnish its reputation.”
Earlier today, CITF indicated that it has found anomalies in the AstraZeneca vaccine registrations, saying those who receive appointments for the shot although they did not apply for it may have been registered by other individuals without their consent.
It found that a large number of registrations have been made without the individuals’ consent via various similar IP addresses.
CITF said one of the parties that made such mass bookings is SELangkah – a Selangor government application similar to the MySejahtera app run by the federal government.
“SELangkah has informed that they have made registrations for the AstraZeneca shots without first checking if the individuals are in the ImuniSEL database and agreeable to receive the vaccine.”
ImuniSEL is an outreach campaign by the Selangor government that aims to increase the vaccine registration rate among the residents in the state in support of the National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme.
“SELangkah has given its guarantee to work with CITF to resolve this issue and ensure individuals get back their initial appointments,” said the statement.
CITF has been facing issues with regard to the AstraZeneca vaccine registeration.
Just yesterday, it had to apologise for technical glitches during the AstraZeneca opt-in programme’s registration on May 26.
Netizens took to social media to air their frustrations, which include not being able to choose a vaccination centre and date for their shot.
The vaccination drive, which started at 12.15pm, saw nearly one million registrations in just one hour.
Due to the overwhelming response, Science, Information, and Technology Minister Khairy Jamaluddin said the AstraZeneca vaccine will no longer be available on a voluntary opt-in basis. – The Vibes, May 28, 2021
