KUALA LUMPUR – In another turnaround, traders under the purview of local councils do not need to apply for approvals from the International Trade and Industry Ministry via the Covid-19 Intelligent Management System (CIMS) 3.0 to remain open during the lockdown period.
In a statement today, the Housing and Local Government Ministry said traders only need to display their ministry-issued hawker permits.
“If they need to cross districts to get to their area of business, they will need to apply for police approvals and provide documentation on the ministry’s permits.
“This exemption only applies to traders and not for farmers’ markets, weekend markets and night markets. This directive is effective immediately and applies throughout the movement control order 3.0 period.”
Traders who need to cross districts are advised to adhere to the standard operating procedures outlined by the National Security Council and the Health Ministry.
Previously, businesses were required to obtain approval letters from the relevant ministries.
But the government waked back that decision, telling businesses to apply for approvals via CIMS3.0. Without these documents, they will be asked to turn back if stopped by the authorities. – The Vibes, June 2, 2021
