KUALA LUMPUR – Bentong in Pahang and several other localities in Perak and Sabah will be placed under the enhanced movement control order (EMCO) from June 6 to 14, while four longhouses in Sarawak have also been imposed with the same order.
Senior Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said the EMCO in Perak will involve localities in Larut, Matang and Selama, as well as Kinta, Kerian, Manjung and Hulu Perak.
The affected areas are Kg Dato’ Ahmad Said Tambahan 2 in Kinta; Taman Kerian Tambahan in Kerian; and, Kg Tg Kepah, Kg Batu 9 and Kg Sg Lombong in Manjung.
“The EMCO in Larut, Matang and Selama will involve Taman Berkat in Matang,” said Ismail Sabri.
He added that two villages (Kg Air Panas and Kg Kuak Luar) in Hulu Perak and two in Kerunai (Kg Alai and Kg Baharu) are also involved.
As for Sabah, the EMCO will be enforced in three villages in Papar (Kg Gusi Kinarut, Kg Tengah Kinarut and Kg Benoni) and localities in Sandakan (Lorong Ulu Sibuga 5 and 9, Fasa 7 Taman Mawar); Kota Kinabalu (Taman Wangsa, Jalan Telipok); and Kudat (Kg Perpaduan, Pulau Banggi).
Ismail Sabri said the EMCO in Bentong will cover Kg Chamang Lama/Baru, Taman Bukit Chamang, Bentong Industrial Area, Kg Baru/Taman Saga/Taman Bukit Indah, Kg Sg Marong, Taman Bukit Bentong, Taman Hussin/Taman Syahbandar, Kg Perting/Kg Kemansur/Kg Kuala Repas, Bentong Heights, Rumah Murah Batu 1/PPRT Batu 1, Taman Bentong Makmur, Taman Harmoni, Taman Kolej and Taman Desa Damai.
“The Health Ministry has detected a spike in Covid-19 cases in all these localities, and EMCO will enable the ministry to conduct contact tracing and prevent the virus from spreading to other localities.”
Meanwhile, the Sarawak Disaster Management Committee has imposed EMCO on three localities in the state.
The Robert Sg Merudu longhouse in Sarikei has been placed under the EMCO from today until June 18, while the ones for the Jack longhouse in Betong and Ulin longhouse in Spaoh will be from tomorrow until June 19.
The EMCO at Jali longhouse in Kanowit has been extended until June 12.
On MCO standard operating procedures, Ismail Sabri said 946 individuals were detained yesterday, with 942 compounded and 22 remanded.
The highest number of violations are for not wearing face masks (237), followed by unpermitted interstate and inter-district travel (186), dining in eateries (186), failing to record personal details or check-in at premises (160) and failing to observe physical distancing (156). – Bernama, June 4, 2021
