KUALA LUMPUR – A civil servant is among four arrested by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission over alleged graft in a RM42 million procurement tender linked to an enforcement agency.
MACC officers picked up the suspects, aged between 32 and 61, at 10pm yesterday.
They will be remanded for six days, with the order granted by magistrate Shah Wira Abdul Halim in Putrajaya today.
The suspects are accused of asking for bribes amounting to 5% of the deal’s amount, or approximately RM2.1 million.
A source said the deal is to secure approval to supply, process, print and post summonses on behalf of the agency in question.
The case is being investigated under Section 16(a)(A) of the MACC Act 2009. – The Vibes, June 16, 2021
