KUALA LUMPUR – Malaysia logged 5,150 Covid-19 infections today, snowballing into a a total of 673,026 since the pandemic began.
In the lead once more is Selangor with 1,914 fresh cases, followed by Negri Sembilan (607) and Sarawak (570).
Kuala Lumpur saw 480 cases, Johor (392), Kelantan (230), Kedah (228), Sabah (184), Melaka (152), Labuan (101), Penang (99), Perak (66), Pahang (57), Terengganu (56), Perlis (8) and Putrajaya (6).
The pandemic took the lives of another 73 people bringing the total nationwide death toll to 4,142.
A staggering 924 patients are in intensive care, with 453 requiring respiratory assistance.
A further 7,240 recoveries were registered today, bringing the total Coid-19 recoveries to 600,935.
With regard to clusters, the ministry stated 788 remain active including the 19 new ones identified today.
Ten worksite clusters were identified in Selangor, Sarawak, Johor, Penang, Melaka, Kedah and Perak, with 364 infections in total.
Meanwhile, five community-related clusters were identified by the ministry in Sarawak, Sabah, Negri Sembilan, and Kelantan.
In total, community-related clusters recorded 185 Covid-19 cases.
As for clusters involving high-risk groups, four were identified involving Selangor, Kuala Lumpur and Johor, with a total of 41 confirmed infections. – The Vibes, June 16, 2021
