GUA MUSANG – The Temiar community of Lojing Highlands in Gua Musang wants detailed information about the importance of vaccination and how to register for it from the Pos Tuel Orang Asli settlement.
Pos Tuel Orang Asli village administration committee chairman Hendrop Kamal Rami said the Orang Asli community has started to realise the importance of Covid-19 vaccines, but they still need an explanation on how to register for the vaccination through MySejahtera.
“The Orang Asli community is not afraid, but from what I know, they don’t quite understand the importance of Covid-19 vaccines,” he said here today.
Kamal said 300 out of 2,000 Orang Asli at the settlement have registered through the MySejahtera app and hope that vaccinations at their location will be expedited.
He said the community welcomed National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme Coordinating Minister Khairy Jamaluddin’s announcement that the government will supply the single-dose CanSino vaccines to Kelantan next month and that the rural population, including Orang Asli settlements, will be prioritised.
Pos Tuel resident Ahmad Angah said he would not miss out on the opportunity to get vaccinated as he wanted to be protected against Covid-19.
“We do not want the community in Lojing to miss out on Covid-19 vaccinations,” he said.
Pos Tuel resident representative Mariah Angah said she was thankful to the government for the initiative and hoped that all Orang Asli would register for their vaccination shots.
“What I understand is that we can prevent Covid-19 infections by getting the vaccine jabs,” she said. – Bernama, June 22, 2021
