KUALA LUMPUR – The police today confirmed receiving a “no further action” (NFA) instruction from the Attorney-General’s Chambers regarding their investigation into a minister’s alleged breach of Covid-19 quarantine.

Bukit Aman Criminal Investigation Department (CID) chief Datuk Huzir Mohamed told a press conference today that their investigation into Plantation Industries and Commodities Minister Datuk Khairuddin Aman Razali has stopped.

“The NFA instruction was made based on the statement the minister was not given the 14 (b) form under Section 15 (1) of the 342 Act on quarantine instructions.

“Based on this statement, the Attorney General’s Chambers has decided to not file any charges against the minister, seeing that there are no strong statements to form a basis of a charge under the 342 Act or any subsidiary laws under it,” said Huzir.

The PAS minister was investigated for allegedly breaching the mandatory quarantine after returning from his working trip in Turkey on July 7.

He was fined RM1,000 for failing to adhere to the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases Act 1988 on August 7 by the Health Ministry.

A statement by the Health Ministry also confirmed that the minister had paid the fine. – The Vibes, October 21, 2020
