KUALA LUMPUR – As Malaysians flock to vaccination centres to be inoculated against the Covid-19 virus, an individual found himself being on the receiving end of an “empty” vaccine injection.

Reports of this alleged incident, which have gone viral, have prompted the Covid-19 Immunisation Task Force (CITF) to assure it takes the claims seriously.

In a statement this afternoon, it said that it is cooperating with the enforcement authorities, including police and the army, to conduct investigations into the allegations so that such incidents do not happen again.

Social media user Tan Wing Sam took to Facebook yesterday to narrate how he initially suspected that he was not administered with a dose of the Pfizer vaccine at the Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre.

He said that the nurse had jabbed him with an “empty” syringe, which had its plunger pushed all the way to the end, and he did not see the nurse withdrawing any liquid from the vial.

“About two seconds later, she pulled it out, put on the plaster, said it’s all done and told (me) to proceed to the next section.

“All she did was jab it in and pull it out without any motion showing that she had depressed the syringe, which was empty in the first place,” Tan said in the Facebook post yesterday.

Tan had initially requested to record the vaccination process but the nurse rejected it.

After confronting the nurse, she told him that she could just give him another dose, which she proceeded to do.

Although Tan’s Facebook post describes the nurse as being rude when questioned about the vaccine, she replies to him with “should have (vaccinated) but you said no, so I gave you another one.”

At the next section, Tan raised the issue to the supervisors in charge. They returned to the booth and questioned the nurse, who apologised and admitted what she had done.

Tan added that the supervisor assured him that he was properly vaccinated during the “second time”.

“I wonder how many out there think they got vaccinated but it was just the needle jabbing in and out,” he added. – The Vibes, July 19, 2021
