BUKIT MERTAJAM – Police are looking for four men to assist in a probe into a parang attack on Penang Hindu Endowment Board executive director Datuk M. Ramachandran, who was slashed outside his house in Taman Alma here last night.

Seberang Prai Tengah police chief Shafee Abd Samad said currently, there is neither a witness who saw the incident nor CCTV footage available at the scene.

“Police request that anyone who witnessed the incident to come forward and contact investigating officer Sobirin at 018-292-6844 to aid in investigation.”

He said police received information that a man had been attacked with a sharp weapon in Taman Alma, Machang Bubok, at 9.15pm last night.

The 70-year-old victim was seriously injured after being slashed by four unidentified men, he added.

“The victim was sent to Bukit Mertajam Hospital for treatment and is in stable condition.

“The case is being investigated under Section 326 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing grievous hurt.”

The Vibes had earlier reported that the victim was slashed outside his house by four men, who then fled the scene. He had just returned home after picking up his granddaughter from tuition.

Ramachandran, a former unionist, is the leading figure at the board for close to a decade due to his role as executive officer.
