KUANTAN – A fruit wholesaler was cheated of RM414,932 by a man who pretended to be the buyer of his Musang King durians.
Pahang Commercial Crime Investigation Department chief Mohd Wazir Mohd Yusof said the 29-year-old victim claimed that the suspect contacted him to buy 10 baskets of durians on June 30.
“The victim claimed that the suspect showed him a copy of an online transaction receipt as proof of payment, and that the latter’s employee came to the shop to pick up the fruits on the same day.
“This caused the victim to trust the suspect and continued to sell durians to him from July 1 to 27, with payment made directly to his company’s bank account.”
Wazir said the victim realised he had been cheated when the RM414,932 amount was in fact not credited to the account, and later lodged a report at the Sg Ruan police station in Raub. – Bernama, July 28, 2021
