ALOR STAR – “Mind your own business,” Kedah Menteri Besar Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor told Penang Deputy Chief Minister II P. Ramasamy, after the latter criticised him for prioritising the Kulim International Airport (KXP) project instead of the pandemic.
Sanusi reminded Ramasamy to not interfere in the Kedah government’s matters, especially involving the construction of KXP.
“I am not disturbing Penang, so you should not disturb Kedah,” he said at an online press conference today.
Ramasamy made the criticism on Monday, just hours after Kedah signed a joint venture agreement with developer ECK Group to build the airport.
Sanusi had said a special purpose vehicle (SPV) will be set up under the agreement to act as a project owner and developer.
Some 80% of the SPV stake will be owned by ECK, while the rest will be owned by the state via a Kedah State Development Corporation subsidiary, KXP AirportCity Holdings Sdn Bhd.
In another matter, Sanusi said the current political upheaval in the country does not affect the Kedah administration.
All state leaders were present at the exco meeting today, including Umno’s Datuk Suraya Yaacob, who holds the public works, energy, water supply and resources portfolio, he added.
“The polemic is happening only in Putrajaya and Kuala Lumpur, it does not affect Kedah.
“I, myself, held a briefing with the Kedah ruler today, and the political situation in the state is stable.” – The Vibes, August 4, 2021
