POLITICAL struggles are not just about winning elections, but to determine if Malaysia will continue to be driven by old politics loaded with hatred and abuse of power, said Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.
In a Facebook post, he said the struggle being waged by the government today is an effort to bring the country out of political practices based on hatred and abuse of power to a more responsible system.
“Our struggle has never been just about winning elections.
“In fact, it is a determining field as to whether Malaysia will continue to be driven by the old politics that are laden with hatred and abuse of power, or move forward as an order based on the principles of accountability, justice and compassion for the people,” he said.
He said several achievements have been proven, including improving governance, efforts to combat leakage, increasing investment and restoring world confidence in Malaysia.
However, he admitted that the country's reform agenda is still incomplete and requires continuous efforts from all parties.
“However, this journey is still long and far from perfect.
“There is still much that needs to be corrected, there are still many who need to be defended and consoled, there are still many voices that need to be heard, loopholes in the system that need to be closed, as well as various other problems that need to be focused on and overcome together,” he said.
Anwar called on the people of Johor to continue to defend the politics of hope that unites and based on love, in addition to strengthening efforts to build the nation.
“I call on the people of Johor to continue to stand firm in defending the politics of hope, politics that unites and sprout love.
“With the support of the people, we will continue to work harder to elevate the dignity of the country and ensure that Malaysia emerges as a strong, fair and dignified nation,” he said. – June 16, 2026
