OPPOSITION MPs have decided not to participate in a special session to discuss the Tabung Haji (TH) Royal Commission of Inquiry (RCI) Report at the Dewan Rakyat this morning.

The opposition MPs' decision was made after their motion to postpone the special session was rejected by the Speaker, Tan Sri Johari Abdul.

The announcement not to participate in the special session was made by Perikatan Nasional Chief Whip, Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hasan, and agreed to by Johari.

Following that, PN MPs were seen rising from their seats together to begin to leave.

Earlier, Takiyuddin stood up to raise meeting order 13, requesting that the special session regarding RCI TH this morning be postponed, because it was not attended by the Prime Minister, who is also the Minister of Finance, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

He said Anwar's presence was important to provide a comprehensive explanation on the report, particularly as the prime minister himself had previously raised the matter.

However, Johari decided that it would continue as scheduled today with a briefing session by Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Religious Affairs), Dr Zulkifli Hasan.

Earlier, the Prime Minister's Senior Press Secretary, Tunku Nashrul Abaidah, said that the Prime Minister apologised for not being able to attend the special session.

The Prime Minister is undergoing treatment by a team of medical experts and is expected to be under observation for two days.

Yesterday, the Head of the Medical Team to the Prime Minister, Datuk Dr Asri Ranga Abdullah Ramaiah, said that Anwar had successfully undergone an elective laparoscopic surgery procedure to treat a para-umbilical hernia. – August 11, 2026
