KUALA LUMPUR – A special cabinet meeting to discuss the Perikatan Nasional government has been scheduled for 10am tomorrow, amid the latest political development.

Plantation Industries and Commodities Minister Datuk Mohd Khairuddin Aman Razali confirmed this at a press conference at Malaysia Agro Exposition Park in Serdang today.

Although the PAS leader did not divulge any further detail about the meet, he said PAS has never attacked Umno or other PN parties.

“Just a bit of a friendly pinch (cubit-cubit sayang) for Umno president (Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi) recently, which is part of efforts to attract support.”

On PAS’ stand, Khairuddin told Harian Metro that the party leadership will make a decision after the cabinet meeting.

“The meet among PAS leaders, its Syura Council and MPs yesterday decided to back the PN government, while strengthening Muafakat Nasional (a political cooperation with Umno).

“PAS will remain a bridge between the Malay parties – Bersatu and Umno. For the sake of long-term politics and the country, Malay parties must stick together as the backbone of the government and be supported by multiracial parties.”

But, he did not disclose how MN can be strengthened amid the Bersatu-Umno break-up.

“It is PAS’ internal strategy. It is constantly working towards an understanding between the parties, reminding them to not fight as it will result in the loss of strength.

“The country will not benefit from fights. We need to stay united, set aside political differences and focus on fighting Covid-19.” – The Vibes, August 15, 2021
