KUALA LUMPUR – The supply of essential items is sufficient to meet the nation’s needs, assured Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob, citing checks conducted by the Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Ministry.
The senior minister, in a statement today, said checks were conducted on 12 types of goods at 707 business premises, among them grocery stores and markets.
Meanwhile, inspections carried out at 943 businesses saw eight given a warning for not complying with health and safety standard operating procedures.
“During this CMCO (conditional movement control order) period, the government urges everyone, including businesses, to always follow social-distancing guidelines and maintain good hygiene.”
He said police have nabbed another 688 individuals for flouting CMCO rules.
Of the total, 678 were compounded and 10 remanded.
