KUALA LUMPUR – Johor Crown Prince Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim will meet nearly 800 teachers and education director over a report that teachers in the state are refusing to get vaccinated against Covid-19.
On Twitter, Tunku Ismail said he will address the matter highlighted by Harian Metro recently.
“I will meet with the Johor education director and the teachers involved in the near future,” he said in a post today.
“Our priority is to overcome this pandemic as soon as possible so that the people, state can return to and continue their normal lives.”

Tunku Ismail was responding to Twitter user @Inbarajs, who expressed hope that the prince will intervene in the matter.
According to Harian Metro, some 779 teachers in the state have rejected Covid-19 vaccines.
State Education, Information, Heritage and Culture chairman Mazlan Bujang was quoted as saying that the Johor Education Department will assist in creating awareness on the importance of vaccines to those involved.
Mazlan said the teachers will be called up individually to be briefed on the matter ahead of schools reopening in October.
He added that 45,448, or 96.26% of the teachers in the state have received the first dose of the Covid-19 vaccine, while 23,746 have been fully jabbed. – The Vibes, August 22, 2021
