KUALA LUMPUR – Water supply in Klang Valley areas affected by yesterday’s disruption are being restored in stages starting 7am today after cleaning works were completed.
Pengurusan Air Selangor Sdn Bhd (Air Selangor) said it has conducted water quality testing and complied with standards set by the Health Ministry.
Treated water from Sg Semenyih water treatment plant has also been certified safe for distribution to consumers by the National Water Services Commission.
Currently, Air Selangor is working to stabilise the water supply distribution system to all affected areas. Water supply in all 463 affected areas is expected to fully recover by midnight on September 3.
Air Selangor will continue to mobilise alternative water supply assistance to affected consumers and critical premises. A total of 94 water tankers have been mobilised to the affected consumer areas.
Air Selangor said it is seeking its consumers’ cooperation to practise social distancing and wear masks while collecting water supply from the water tankers.
Yesterday, Air Selangor said operations were resuming at the Sg Semenyih water treatment plant after it was shut down following the detection of odour pollution at the Jenderam Hilir water pump station at 11.10am.
However, it said cleaning works must first be conducted before water treatment operations resumed.
The shutdown had affected water supply to 463 areas in Petaling, Hulu Langat, Sepang, Putrajaya and Kuala Langat. – The Vibes, September 1, 2021
