KUALA LUMPUR – The conditional movement control order (CMCO) in Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya, Selangor that was slated to end tomorrow has been extended for another two weeks to November 9.
The extension, said Senior Minister (Defence) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob in his daily update, was needed as there are still many Covid-19 red zones in the three areas.
“The government has decided to do so following the risk assessments from the Health Ministry, which saw the need for the extension.
Ismail also announced the CMCO for Negri Sembilan’s Nilai – to start on Wednesday to November 10. Putra Point in Nilai will also be under EMCO, starting Wednesday.
“Two worker dormitories in Putra Point have contributed to the number of Covid-19 cases. The CMCO and EMCO in Nilai are done to curb the spread of Covid-19 and allow for a targeted mass testing to be done there.”
Meanwhile, two more residential areas in Sandakan will be placed under enhanced MCO, starting Wednesday to November 10.
Taman Mesra People’s Housing Project (Mile 3) and Taman Mawar (Mile 5), involving 5,100 houses and 22,500 residents will be affected.
EMCO in Taman Harmoni, Mile 3 started on October 23.
He also announced that EMCO in Taman Khazanah Indah and Mutiara Kasih Apartment, Lahad Datu, as well as Felda Umas, Tawau will be extended for another 14 days until November 9.
“All the standard operating procedures (SOPs) are the same for all these localities under EMCO. They are not allowed to leave their homes except for medical emergencies, and to buy groceries within the EMCO area.
“We have allowed opening of grocery stores inside EMCO area from 6am to 6pm, so affected residents could acquire essentials, such as baby formula milk and diapers that are not provided in the government assistance packs.” – The Vibes, October 26, 2020
