KUALA LUMPUR – PKR has expressed a willingness to work with any politician in pursuit of its reform agenda, said Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim today, despite the opposition party getting the cold shoulder from Umno.

“PKR will continue its Reformasi agenda centred on the principles of justice and peace for all Malaysians,” said the party president in a statement.

He emphasised the need for bipartisan efforts to aid the country’s fight against the coronavirus, especially in the tabling of Budget 2021, which is slated for November 6.

“Regarding Budget 2021, which will be tabled soon, there has to be a united effort from parties from both the government and opposition to draft a robust strategy to deal with the Covid-19 pandemic, unemployment and poverty.”

During a meeting of Barisan Nasional leaders yesterday, former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak proposed a cooperation with Anwar, on the condition that DAP is not in the picture.

However, the suggestion was parried by the Umno Supreme Council, which met last night to discuss the party’s cooperation with Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin and Perikatan Nasional.

The BN lynchpin has reiterated its support for PN despite Muhyiddin being snubbed by the Yang di-Pertuan Agong over a bid to put the country under emergency rule. – The Vibes, October 27, 2020
