KUALA LUMPUR – Despite Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin’s failed bid to declare an emergency, talk of the prime minister resigning should not arise, said Datuk Seri Maximus Ongkili.

The Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS) president, in a statement today, said Muhyiddin got the support of all cabinet members before making the proposal to the Yang di-Pertuan Agong.

“PBS has full confidence in his (Muhyiddin’s) leadership, and the party will give him all the support required to execute his duties as prime minister.

“The matter of the prime minister resigning does not arise at all, and this is the shared view of all parties in the Perikatan Nasional government.”

Ongkili, who is minister in the Prime Minister’s Department in charge of Sabah and Sarawak affairs, also lauded the Agong’s decree for all politicians to stop politicking and focus their efforts on combating Covid-19, which has hit Sabah especially hard following the state election on September 26. – The Vibes, October 27, 2020
