BUTTERWORTH – Firemen caught a 4m-long crocodile weighing about 500kg at a fisherman’s jetty around 7.25pm today.
In a WhatsApp group chat with the media, the Butterworth fire station senior fire officer Mohd Nasir Idris said that the Fire and Rescue Department as well as the Civil Defence Force rescued the reptile and handed it over to the Wildlife Department.
The authorities had received a call from a member of the public who found the reptile loitering around near the fisherman’s jetty in Bagan Ajam.
It took them around 30 minutes to take the crocodile in safely.
Nasir said that the beast was netted and placed in a Civil Defence truck and sent to the Wildlife Department at around 8.30 pm.
