BUKIT MERTAJAM – A man was killed after he was hit by a train on the Prai Industrial Area railway track near Kg Jawa here last night.
The incident on the tracks of Keretapi Tanah Melayu Berhad (KTMB) at Km4.5 around 8.20pm caused the victim, who was in his 40s, to die at the scene due to severe injuries.
Seberang Prai Tengah district police chief Shafee Abd Samad, said the investigation found that the victim was hit by a KTMB train from Butterworth towards Bukit Mertajam.
“The body was taken to Seberang Jaya Hospital for Covid-19 screening before the autopsy. Preliminary police investigations found no criminal elements and the case was classified as sudden death,” he told the media today.
Shafee said the check found that the victim was from Selama, Perak, and his family has been informed about the incident.
“We are investigating whether the victim intentionally went on the train tracks… We are not ruling out any possibility.”
Shafee advised the public not to trespass into fenced areas or cross railway tracks as it could endanger lives as well as cause property damage. – The Vibes, September 20, 2021
