MIRI – Sarawak’s reopening of its tourism industry starts with tour packages, resorts and hotel stays available from tomorrow, in addition to full-capacity flights entering the state.
State Tourism Minister Datuk Abdul Karim Hamzah said tourism sectors will be revived and police permits will be issued for tour groups to travel across districts.
“As we open up for tourism, we must relax the restrictions on movement of people.
“However, we will ensure all SOPs are followed,” he said in Kuching today.
Airlines offering routes to Sarawak will also be allowed to operate at full passenger capacity from tomorrow.
The state Disaster Management Committee Secretariat today also announced that more social businesses, such as spas, massage centres and health wellness centres, can operate under strict adherence to SOPs from tomorrow.
However, the secretariat warned that children under 12 and those who are unvaccinated should stay away from public places as the risk of Covid-19 infections are still high.
Today, Sarawak recorded another 15 coronavirus deaths.
Of the 2,847 new infections reported in the state today, Kuching topped the list with 745 cases, followed by Miri (361), Sarikei (168), Sibu (139) and Bintulu (108). The remaining districts recorded below 100 cases each. – The Vibes, September 30, 2021
