KUALA LUMPUR – Lim Guan Eng (Bagan-PH) has replaced Home Minister Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin (Larut-Bersatu) as one of the six members of the select committee for the 14th Parliament term.
The motion was made in the Dewan Rakyat today by Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Parliament and Law) Datuk Seri Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar (Santubong-GPS), where it was passed.
“I’m making a request under Standing Order 76 to propose that Lim Guan Eng, the Member of Parliament for Bagan, be appointed as a member of the select committee for the 14th Parliament term to replace Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin, the Larut Member of Parliament,” said Wan Junaidi.
His motion was supported by Deputy Finance Minister I Mohd Shahar Abdullah (Paya Besar-BN) and received the Dewan Rakyat’s approval as well as the opposition’s applause.
Lim, who is DAP secretary-general, will be serving with International Trade and Industry Minister Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali (Gombak-Bersatu), Works Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof (Petra Jaya-GPS), Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi (Bagan Datuk-BN), Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang (Marang-PAS) and opposition leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim (Port Dickson-PH).
