BUTTERWORTH – A body of a newborn was found dumped in a rubbish bin at the Taman Bagan flats near here today.

Upon being alerted, police went to the site to recover the remains.

An ambulance from the Seberang Jaya Hospital also came and took away the body for a post-mortem.

Seberang Prai Utara district police chief Noorzainy Mohd Noor confirmed the incident. He said police are investigating to determine the identity of the baby’s mother.

Bagan Dalam assemblyman M. Satees said he was informed about the finding and alerted police.

He said the baby was wrapped in a white cloth. The body was found by a rubbish collector at about 9am today.

“I am saddened by the incident. Even if it was unwantedly conceived, this should not have happened.

“Residents who have information about the incident can call police to assist in their investigations,” he said. – The Vibes, October 23, 2021
