KUALA LUMPUR – Health Minister Khairy Jamaluddin has reminded the public to wear their masks when going out after a clip of an unmasked Caucasian woman barred from entering a Dior boutique in Suria KLCC went viral.

“When in Rome, do as the Romans do. When in Malaysia, please mask up. Regardless of the rules elsewhere,” Khairy said in a tweet today, adding that the Health Ministry is working on obtaining more information from Suria KLCC on the incident.

In a brief clip uploaded by Twitter user @DFEfiercefun, a mall staffer was adamant not to let the woman enter while she insisted otherwise.

The post has gathered more than 100,000 views since the 23-second clip was uploaded this morning.

Regulations involving compulsory mask wearing are not exclusive to Malaysia.

In Singapore, a British man was sentenced to six weeks’ jail in August for not wearing a mask and harassing police authorities.

In Germany last week, a 20-year-old petrol station worker was shot dead after an angry customer returned to exact revenge over being told to wear a mask. – The Vibes, October 27, 2021
