KUALA LUMPUR – Most Perikatan Nasional party leaders at the Hilton Kuala Lumpur today are keeping mum on the agenda of their meeting.
International Trade and Industry Minister Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali said that today’s meeting was merely a session among party whips.
“This is a normal council among whip leaders. The prime minister updated us on the latest developments and what to prepare for the next (parliamentary) session.”
Earlier, Umno president Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi merely smiled and waved when hounded by the press as he left the hotel.
It was the same for PAS president Datuk Seri Hadi Abdul Awang and Pasir Puteh MP Datuk Nik Mohamad Zawawi Salleh.
Meanwhile, MIC president Tan Sri S. Vigneswaran said they were here merely to have lunch.
But his MCA counterpart Datuk Seri Wee Ka Siong told the press it was just another meeting among party heads ahead of tomorrow’s Dewan Rakyat sitting.
“It’s just a meeting. It’s normal to meet before Parliament convenes,” said Wee.
As of 2.30pm, many party leaders had left the hotel, with Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin believed to be convening a meeting with party whips.
Before leaving the hotel lobby at 5pm, Azmin was seen having a conversation with Home Affairs Minister Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainuddin and Arau MP Datuk Seri Shahidan Kassim.
When asked if they were satisfied with today’s meeting, Hamzah and Shahidan merely smiled and gave the press a thumbs up.
