KUALA LUMPUR – PKR’s newest MP Maszlee Malik (Simpang Renggam-PH) and Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman (Muar-Independent) are demanding an explanation for the lack of allocations in their respective constituencies.
Syed Saddiq accused Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Special Functions) Datuk Mastura Mohd Yazid (Kuala Kangsar-BN) of misleading the Dewan Rakyat.
“I wrote a letter to the speaker regarding a confusing statement made by the honourable Kuala Kangsar, who in September said allocations will be distributed to all MPs regardless of their political affiliations.
“We are close to December, and Muar has yet to receive a sen.”
In reference to the memorandum of understanding between Pakatan Harapan (PH) and the government, Syed Saddiq said only those who are involved with the document will receive their allocations, however, he was not allowed to sign it.
Meanwhile, Maszlee’s dilemma is somewhat different from Syed Saddiq, given the former education minister just joined the PH coalition after becoming a PKR member over the weekend.
“I have informed the speaker of my situation, and until now, Simpang Renggam has not received any allocation.
“What we heard from the Implementation Coordination Unit was that there is no allocation for my constituency, despite the MoU.
“I am urging the Prime Minister’s Department to respect the document.”
Maszlee was sacked from Bersatu in May last year, and withdrew from Pejuang in November the same year.
He served as an independent lawmaker until he joined the ranks of PKR on November 27. – The Vibes, November 30, 2021
