KUALA LUMPUR – After being placed in the opposition bloc, Muda president Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman took a swipe at the unity government today over the discharge not amounting to an acquittal in Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi's case on 47 graft-related charges.

The Muar MP claimed that the discharge given to the deputy prime minister was the biggest deception by the current government.

He also labelled the government bloc as hypocrites for not allowing the issue to be raised in the Dewan Rakyat.

He said the scenario was different when the government MPs were in the opposition bloc.

Yesterday, Dewan Rakyat Speaker Tan Sri Johari Abdul said Syed Saddiq would be seated in the opposition bloc in the august house from today following his decision to withdraw support for the unity government.

Johari said he had received a letter from the Muda chief on the matter.

"In the past, the same MPs in the government bloc today were so gung-ho in criticising the former government on instances of kleptocracy and abuses of power.

"But now... they are all acting like hypocrites," he said.

He questioned how these same MPs are going to represent the people's voices if they could not even speak out against injustice. – The Vibes, September 12, 2023
