MIRI – Optimistic of victory, opposition Parti Sarawak Bersatu (PSB) has drawn up a manifesto for the 12th state election that focuses on the urgent immediate needs of ordinary Sarawakians rather than grand megaprojects.
PSB president Datuk Seri Wong Soon Koh today announced that the manifesto is a comprehensive set of plans for the party in the event it takes over as the next state government.
“We in PSB are confident that we can win enough seats to form the next state government,” he said.
PSB is fielding candidates in 70 of the 82 state seats in the election on December 18.
“We will not focus on megaprojects in Sarawak. No need for such huge projects, not in the next five or ten years,” he told a press conference at the Sibu PSB head office today.
A PSB-led government will also give much-needed monetary aid to the people every month, he assured.
Wong said such aid will include assistance of between RM300 to RM500 each month for needy families, including those stricken by poverty, ill health, and old age.
Other areas of focus include ensuring equitable socio-economic opportunities for all, fighting for Sarawak’s rights, improving basic infrastructure, creating jobs, and building proper education.
“We will put in place policies for the state administration to bring real benefits and progress to the people,” he said.
“Our immediate focus will be on improving the people’s living conditions and their welfare in these difficult times we are going through.”
Wong stressed the need to boost the income of the general population, while looking after the needs of businesses and the industrial sector.
PSB will disseminate its manifesto in English, Bahasa Malaysia, Mandarin, and Iban on Thursday. – The Vibes, December 7, 2021
