MIRI – PKR at state and national levels is grooming young leaders but urges the voters to give them a chance to serve, said party advisory council chairperson Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail during her visit to Sarawak.
“We have with us in Sarawak some very young candidates. They are our future leaders who will serve with dedication and sincerity.
“I hope the voters will give our candidates a chance to serve the rakyat, to bring justice to the people of Sarawak,” she said during her visit to Kuching while accompanied by Batu Lintang candidate, 24-year-old Cherishe Ng.
She arrived yesterday afternoon for a statewide tour to drum up support for Sarawak PKR ahead of polling day on December 18.
Wan Azizah said she is happy to find that Ng is putting in a lot of hard work to reach out to the ordinary folk.
“She is showing keen enthusiasm to serve the people. I appeal to the voters to give her a chance.”
Ng is the youngest candidate running in the state polls, with her manifesto focused on resolving issues faced by the needy and underprivileged groups.
She will be facing incumbent See Chee How of Parti Sarawak Bersatu, Sih Hua Tong (Gabungan Parti Sarawak), Voon Li Shan (Parti Bumi Kenyalang) and Leong Shaow Tung of Parti Aspirasi.
Meanwhile, Sarawak PKR is fielding 27 candidates in the state polls and only contesting for the seats where it has higher chances of winning.
Earlier, it was reported that the party would contest 49 out of the 82 seats.
