KUALA LUMPUR – The nine individuals who tragically died following a crash near the USJ R&R last night had attended the wedding of a relative in Melaka.

According to The Vibes’ Bahasa Malaysia sister portal Getaran, the fatal crash which took the lives of the family members of 50-year-old Abdul Razak Majit occurred while they were on their way to their home in Padang Jawa, Klang.

Those who perished include Razak’s 37-year-old wife Norul Naziah Buyon and his eight children Razarul Amin Abd Razak, 17; Razatul Aliah, 16; Puteri Hidayah Abd Razak, 12; and Muhamad Aizat Syazwan, 10.

Also dead from the incident include Muhamad Rolkaizat Rezky, 9; Muhamad Hidayat Hakimie, 7; Puteri Nur Ain Syalwana, 3; and Muhammad Raid Fathi, who was only 10 months old.

Besides the nine individuals, the tragedy also killed a 27-year-old mechanic named Mohamad Rahimi Rolex, who attempted to aid the victims by fixing their car.

The incident is understood to have occurred when the Proton Wira driven by Razak faced a battery malfunction, prompting him to park the car in the emergency lane.

However, a trailer crashed into the car while all victims were still inside.

“At that time, I contacted my sister who informed me of the car breaking down.

“I understand, when the incident happened, my sister and her eight kids were waiting in the car before the accident,” Nurul Atika, the sister of Norul Naziah, said.

Speaking to Getaran at the Shah Alam Hospital’s forensics unit, Atika said she was still shocked over the incident.

“Last week, when we met, she asked me if I would be sad if she passed away from Covid-19 like one of our family members.

“I didn’t expect this statement to become true, and I can’t accept what happened given we were really close,” she added.

One of Razak’s children, a 14-year-old boy, cheated death as he did not accompany his family when the incident occurred.

Other victims who suffered injuries in the incident include Ihyat Sufi Shokip, 20; Mimie Nafiesa Abdullah, 19; and Ummi Nasuha Annuwar, 20.
