KUALA LUMPUR – Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad, who was admitted to the National Heart Institute (IJN) last Thursday evening, has completed all the necessary investigations for his medical check-up and is ready for discharge within the next few days.
“The team of doctors treating Dr Mahathir is satisfied with results of the investigations done over the last few days.
“Following this, Dr Mahathir is ready for discharge within the next few days,” said a statement issued by IJN.
The statement also said Dr Mahathir and his wife, Tun Dr Siti Hasmah Mohd Ali, expressed their thanks to everyone who has been praying for him.
Last Friday, IJN released a statement saying that Dr Mahathir was undergoing several tests which would be completed over the following few days.
The former prime minister would remain in IJN until then.
The two-time prime minister suffered his first heart attack in 1989 and had two more in 2006. A year later, he underwent a quadruple bypass surgery.
The last time he was hospitalised was in February 2018 at IJN.
It is understood that he had all his heart treatments at the hospital. – The Vibes, December 21, 2021
