[UPDATED] All PPVs to allow walk-ins for booster jabs tomorrow onwards: KJ

KUALA LUMPUR – All Malaysians above 18 will be able to get their booster jabs by walking into any of the existing vaccination centres (PPVs) across the country tomorrow onwards, Health Minister Khairy Jamaluddin announced today.

The decision comes just days after the Health Ministry announced that four mega PPVs in the Klang Valley would be accepting walk-ins for booster vaccine doses for those above 18.

Khairy through a statement said the decision to open up all PPVs for walk-in appointments was made to ensure as many Malaysians are protected and immunised against Covid-19 in the wake of new variants emerging.

“Hence, in line with the announcement made on January 26, related to the Implementation of Covid-19 vaccine booster doses through walk-ins for integrated PPVs in Klang Valley, the ministry is happy to offer the same walk-in service for booster vaccination shots to all adult citizens aged 18 and above at all PPVs across the country beginning January 29.”

He said the full list of PPVs, including general practitioners’ clinic PPVs, and offsite PPVs will be made available on the ProtectHealth website, with the lists updated from time to time.

He added that those looking to obtain their jabs from general practitioners are advised to call in earlier to confirm their appointments to avoid overcrowding.

“The types of vaccine that will be administered will be limited to what is on supply at each PPV. Individuals who wish to get their jabs by walking in are advised to ensure they have a completed digital vaccination certificate within their MySejahtera application to ensure a smoother process.”

He said those without a smartphone to display the digital certificates are urged to bring along their physical certificates during the appointments.

Khairy added that in light of an expected increase in movement and gatherings as Chinese New Year draws near, he urges the public to get their booster doses to protect themselves and their loved ones around them. – The Vibes, January 28, 2022
