KUALA LUMPUR – Ten traditional careers will be replaced with digital successors post-pandemic, a World Economic Forum (WEF) report on future jobs has shown.

Deputy Human Resources Minister Awang Hashim told the Dewan Rakyat during question time that WEF has predicted the decline or extinction of these jobs.

“They are: data-entry clerks, accounting/book-keeping clerks, administrative/executive secretaries, assembly and factory workers, client information and customer service, business services and administrative managers, accountants and auditors, and matrix-recording and stock-keeping clerks

“The new normal will see these occupations replaced with other emerging roles,” he said in his reply to Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail (PH-Pandan).

Awang said those jobs will be replaced with those such as machine-learning specialists, software and application developers and analysts, big data specialists, sales and marketing professionals, digital transformation specialists, new technology specialists, organisation development specialists and information technology services. – The Vibes, November 9, 2020
