Power-crazy Umno: Zahid mocks Muda over its recent blunders

KUALA LUMPUR – The shortcomings of youth-led party Muda, including friendly fire aimed by its president Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman against its allies, were all caused by Umno’s greed for power, said Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi sarcastically.

The Umno president, in a statement targeted at the youth party, mockingly claimed the friction between Pakatan Harapan (PH) and other opposition parties was also caused by Umno’s “thirst for power”.

“Because Umno is crazy about power, that is why Muda stabbed the back of the Tiram (state rep) from PKR.

“Because Umno is crazy about power, that is why Muda condemned all allies of PH (DAP and Amanah), Perikatan Nasional (Bersatu, PAS and Barisan Nasional (BN)), and BN as equally corrupt and corrupt practitioners.

“Because Umno is crazy about power, that is why Muda accused Umno of being at fault in Sarawak even though the Sarawak election had nothing to do with Umno and this party was not even involved and neither competed,” Zahid posted on his Facebook page this afternoon.

The Bagan Datuk MP also claimed Muda were given six of the “easy” seats to contest in Johor, a move Umno said would eventually shrink PH’s presence.

He added that Muda, despite condemning PKR for taking in party-hoppers during the Melaka election, now finds itself cooperating with the latter.

Zahid noted how Muda itself has taken in party-hoppers, referring to central committee member Nurainie Haziqah Shafii, who prior to joining the youth-led party was a member of PKR and Bersatu.

“All the breach of principles, backstabbing, accusations, and criticism that took place between Muda, PKR, PH, and all other parties, is because Umno is crazy about power.

“Great, Umno. Congratulations.”

Muda recently announced they would be contesting in six seats in the Johor election following negotiations with DAP and Amanah, with PKR giving the party until today to decide on its offer for three more state seats.

This comes as the party weathers criticism over its leadership appointments, even having the need to defend Nurainie Haziqah’s acceptance into the party.

However, Muda vice-president Dr Thanussha Francis Xavier maintained that the onus lies on Nurainie Haziqah to prove herself to the party’s leadership and its grassroots. – The Vibes, February 13, 2022
