JOHOR BARU – PKR has offered three Johor state seats to Muda ahead of the polls, following the cemented offers by Pakatan Harapan component parties DAP and Amanah.
In a statement today, Johor PKR chief Syed Ibrahim Syed Noh said three negotiation sessions have been held between his party and Muda.
“During the series of negotiations, everyone gave their opinions honestly and openly.
“After the negotiations, PKR is offering Muda three seats and now awaits the youth party’s response.”
Should the newly registered Muda accept this offer, it will be contesting nine out of 56 seats in Johor.
This is one short of the earlier claim by PKR president Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, who said Muda sought 10 state seats – one that Muda president Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman had denied.
Earlier today, in a joint statement by DAP, Amanah and Muda said the young party would run for six seats.
The seats allocated for Muda are Tenang, Bukit Kepong, Parit Raja, Machap, Puteri Wangsa and Bukit Permai.
According to Muda spokesman Amirul Aziz, the six seats were initially allocated for DAP (two) and Amanah (four).
DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng, Amanah president Mohamad Sabu and Syed Saddiq said they have come to an agreement where they will not contest against one another.
Muda will also be using its own banner, a move similar to PKR, while DAP and Amanah will be using the PH logo.
Meanwhile, today, the Election Commission (EC) decided that Johor will head to the polls on March 12 and set February 26 for nomination, giving political parties and candidates 13 days to campaign.
EC chairman Datuk Abdul Ghani Salleh told a press conference today that early voting will be held on March 8. – The Vibes, February 9, 2022
