KOTA BARU – The Kelantan Legislative Assembly today unanimously passed an amendment to allow pay raises for reps.

The proposed amendment to the Enactment (Remuneration) Members of the Administration and Legislative Assembly 1980 was tabled by Deputy Menteri Besar Datuk Mohd Amar Nik Abdullah and backed by exco Datuk Dr Mohamed Fadzli Hassan.

“The amendment is being raised due to the current challenges facing members of the administration and assemblymen,” said Amar.

“It is also a way to standardise allowances between administration members and reps in Kelantan, and those in other states.”

He said reps’ responsibilities have increased amid the Covid-19 pandemic.

“It is hoped that the amendment will encourage members of the administration and assemblymen to work harder to serve the public.” – Bernama, November 9, 2020
