KUALA LUMPUR – Following the pollution at four Selangor water treatment plants, Air Selangor has announced a reduction in pollution levels as of 11pm.

The pollution level at the Rantau Panjang, and Sg Selangor Phase 1, Phase 2 and Phase 3 plants was at 1 TON (threshold odour number).

All four plants are not operational for the time being, said Air Selangor in a statement.

The shutdown has caused Air Selangor to be unable to produce a total of 2,857 million litres of water per day, resulting in an unscheduled water disruption to consumers in 1,279 areas.

Information on water supply recovery in affected areas will be made available once all plants have resumed operations.

Air Selangor has mobilised over 84 water tankers to critical premises as well as affected residential areas.

Alternative water supplies can also be obtained at 17 Pusat Khidmat Setempat (PKS) provided for consumers beginning 8pm.

Air Selangor advised consumers to obey the regulations of the conditional movement control order while obtaining water supply from the water tankers and public water taps that have been provided.
