Remand against 6 in telco fraud case extended

PUTRAJAYA – The magistrates’ court here has extended the remand order against six people detained by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission since November 11 and 13 for their alleged involvement in fraud carried out via SMS.

The remand order was issued by magistrate Nur Aisyah Mohd Yusof today.

According to an MACC source, four of the suspects were remanded another two days, while the other two, one of whom is a woman, were remanded for another day, starting today.

The six, aged between 39 and 49, include company directors and employees, and a telecommunications firm officer.

They are suspected of giving and receiving bribes to obtain the personal data of prepaid telco customers. – Bernama, November 15, 2020
