KUALA LUMPUR – Barisan Nasional secretary-general Tan Sri Annuar Musa has proposed a “grand coalition” comprising allies, independent parties and those against Pakatan Harapan.
In a Facebook post, he said the parties include Parti Warisan Sabah, Muda, Pejuang, Berjasa, All Malaysian Indian Progressive Front, Makkal Sakti Party and Parti Cinta Malaysia, with others, too, welcomed to join.
The goal is to have a grand alliance that rejects personality politics, he said.
“Our politics has been hovering over just two or three personalities for far too long, and is not on the basis of a struggle. Enough is enough.
“I would like to propose the formation of a grand coalition involving at least 12 or 13 like-minded parties. Let us work towards unity and a grand alliance involving BN, Perikatan Nasional, Gabungan Parti Sarawak and Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS).
“What’s important is that we leave behind politics that linger around personalities, and promote the politics of unity that prioritise stability, national resilience and the people’s interest.”
The Ketereh MP was commenting on PAS deputy president Datuk Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man’s statement yesterday that an official coalition comprising the Islamist outfit, Umno and Bersatu is expected to be formed soon.
Presently, PAS and Umno are partners in Muafakat Nasional, although the former is also part of the ruling PN government, which includes GRS.
Annuar said the three Malay-based parties are scheduled to meet on Wednesday to discuss the formalisation of their alliance.
“Efforts to unite the ummah should be our main responsibility. However, uniting the ummah should not be limited only to Umno, PAS and Bersatu.” – The Vibes, November 16, 2020
