KUANTAN – All eight PAS state assemblymen in Pahang today agreed to take a 10% salary cut for three months, with the funds instead going to the state's disaster trust account.
Beserah assemblyman Andansura Rabu said this was not only to ease the burden of the people who were affected by the Covid-19 pandemic but also as an appreciation to frontliners in Pahang.
“We hope this small assistance can help those who are tested with disaster. We also thank the frontliners for their hard work to ensure the spread of Covid-19 in Pahang is controlled.
“Pahang is among the states not under the Conditional Movement Control Order. The effort of frontliners together with the state government has resulted in no new cases recorded in the past 15 days, as of yesterday,” he said when debating the Supply Enactment Bill (Budget 2021) here today.
This followed the announcement by Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail on Monday that all state executive council members had agreed to take a 10% pay cut to be contributed to the trust account and hoped that all state assemblymen would follow suit.
Meanwhile, Pahang state secretary Datuk Seri Dr Sallehuddin Ishak, who is also the state Disaster Management Committee chairman, thanked the state assembly for giving a standing ovation to the state COVID-19 frontliners at today’s meeting.
