KUALA LUMPUR – The traffic flow out of the Klang Valley heading to the north and east of the peninsula was reported to be smooth as of 10.30pm last night, as city folk travel back to their hometowns to celebrate Aidiladha today.
A Malaysian Highway Authority spokesman, however, said traffic was slightly congested at Simpang Ampat-Ayer Keroh, on the North-South Expressway heading south.
“Traffic was slow for some 4km stretch, a little congestion for about 300m was also reported at the Karak Toll Plaza on the East Coast Highway heading to Kuantan,” he said when contacted by Bernama last night.
Meanwhile, vehicle movement on the Malaysia-Singapore Second Link (Linkedua) was slightly slow at the Sultan Abu Bakar Complex.
The highway authority also said so far. there had been no significant increase in the number of vehicles and traffic flow was expected to remain the same until midnight yesterday.
PLUS Malaysia Bhd (PLUS) earlier reported that 1.9 million vehicles will be on the highway during the festive holidays from Friday to July 12.
Meanwhile, the operator of the Kuala Lumpur-Karak Expressway and the East Coast Expressway Phase One ANIH Bhd expects more than two million vehicles to use the highway from Friday to July 11.
