PETALING JAYA – Celebrity Ahmad Awaluddin Ashaari, better known as Awal Ashaari, is sending a representation to the Attorney-General’s Chambers over his charge for committing mischief by damaging a boom gate belonging to the management of a residential area in Damansara, here.

His lawyer, Hamizah Sobree, informed the court that the representation would be based on documents received from the prosecution.

“We confirmed having received the documents from the prosecution and intend to submit a representation on the charges,” he said during the proceedings before magistrate Muhammad Iskandar Zainol today, which was also attended by deputy public prosecutor Siti Maryam Jamilah Ab Manaff.

Following which, Iskandar set August 25 for mention.

On May 17, Awal Ashaari, 41, pleaded not guilty to committing mischief by damaging a boom gate belonging to Challis Damansara Management, causing it to incur losses estimated at RM600.

The offence was allegedly committed at the Challis Damansara guard house, Jalan PJU 3/30, Sunway Damansara, at 11.30am, last April 16.

The charge, framed under Section 427 of the Penal Code, provides for imprisonment for up to five years or a fine or both, if found guilty. – Bernama, July 15, 2022
