KUALA LUMPUR – Just days after McDonald’s made a disappointing announcement on the discontinuation of its popular hash browns on the breakfast menu, it looks like the fast food chain has hashed it all out.

In an Instagram post, McDonald’s said the crispy golden potato breakfast item is back in stores today.

McDonald’s Malaysia chief marketing officer Melati Abdul Hai said the temporary discontinuation of the popular hash browns was due to global supply chain issues.

However, she assured that the global supply chain challenges have been largely dealt with.

“Hash browns are a favourite addition to our breakfast meals. We thank our loyal customers for their support and understanding during their absence from our menu.

“Some stores may still experience a slight delay in offering them but we are confident that we will have completely hashed out the problem by the weekend,” she told The Vibes.

When the mega fast food chain made the “fry-tening” announcement a few days ago, the news did not appeal to netizens, who subsequently took to Twitter and other social media platforms to air their grievances.

Many were not pleased with the upsetting news, and other netizens were in disbelief that the golden arches had resorted to taking such measures.

This is not the first time McDonald’s has made such cuts as it temporarily halted the sales of large french fries from  January 24.

The shortage of fries is similar to that in Japan, where McDonald’s has been forced to reduce its selection of french fries to only small-sized servings. – The Vibes, July 28, 2022
