KOTA KINABALU – Two vehicles were damaged after being hit by a train at the railgate near the Kota Kinabalu International Airport traffic intersection around 3pm here today.
Kota Kinabalu police chief Mohd Zaidi Abdullah said a Toyota Hilux Vigo and a four-ton lorry were dragged by the train, causing traffic congestion near the Petagas sub-district area.
“The two vehicles were heading towards the airport when the accident occured,” he said when met at the accident site earlier today.
No one was hurt in the late afternoon incident.
Zaidi said the cause of the accident is still being investigated under Section 337 of the Penal Code.
The Vibes was made to understand there were no railway personnel manning at the railgate when the accident occurred.
The boom barrier at the railgate was not lowered to stop oncoming traffic leading to the accidents. – The Vibes, August 18, 2022
