KUALA LUMPUR – Malaysia reached a new high of daily Covid-19 cases with 2,188 infections today, the highest seen in a single day since the pandemic began.

The Health Ministry, in a statement, said most of the cases came from Selangor, which alone saw 1,673 cases.

The record-breaking new transmissions bring the total cumulative number of infections to 58,847 since the beginning of the year. 

Four deaths were also recorded, bringing the death toll to 341. 

A total of 112 patients are currently under intensive care, while 49 required intubation.

The number of recoveries was also high at 1,673, the ministry said. There were also no imported cases recorded today.

Today’s recorded infections bring the total number of active cases to 14,353.

Sabah had the second-highest number of cases at 232, followed by Perak with 112 cases.

Kuala Lumpur is also seeing a drastic spike at 90 cases, and Negri Sembilan recorded 73 cases 

Other states recorded moderate numbers of cases with Johor (19), Penang (15), Kedah (14), Kelantan (6), Melaka (2), Labuan (1) and Sarawak (1). – The Vibes, November 24, 2020
