SANDAKAN – Sabah Umno chief Datuk Seri Bung Moktar Radin has the full trust of top party leaders in deciding whether to work with Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) in the coming general election, said Umno Supreme Council member Datuk Seri Reezal Merican Naina Merican
“Who is the main enemy? The main enemy could be Warisan.
“Which one is more important? (negotiating seats with GRS or defeating the enemy?) I leave it to the state leadership to decide which one is more important… surely defeating the enemy,” he said at a press conference today.
Reezal was speaking at the launch of the Gelombang Biru Barisan Nasional (BN) Tour-Zone 5 at the Sandakan Municipal Field here today.
Zone 5, comprising the Kinabatangan, Beluran, Sandakan, Batu Sapi, and Libaran parliamentary seats, is regarded as one of Umno’s strongest areas in Sabah. Even when BN lost federal power in 2018, it retained three out of the five federal seats in this zone.
“Winning in Zone 5 is very important, not only to Sabah BN but also as contributors to put BN in Putrajaya and form a strong government,” Reezal said.
Bung Moktar, who was also present, said seat negotiations between Sabah BN and GRS are proceeding smoothly.
“I am confident that the negotiation will benefit both parties,” he said, adding that BN’s candidates have been identified, pending approval from the coalition chairman.
The tour was held over two days from yesterday and saw 11,000 people showing up, instead of the expected 5,000, for lucky draws and performances.
The highlight of BN’s tour to meet voters was the lucky draw’s top prize, which was a RM15,000 motorcycle, and a performance by Indonesian artiste Tri Suaka. –The Vibes, October 2, 2022
