GEORGE TOWN – DAP has implored its rivals in the Perikatan Nasional (PN) and Barisan Nasional (BN) coalitions to campaign based on putting forward policies and offering solutions.
The Pakatan Harapan (PH) component party wants the focus to be on such issues rather than on whipping up hatred based on slander and deceit, especially over racial and religious issues.
Party chairman Lim Guan Eng said that there is a need to stay away from trying to canvas for votes based on a barrage of deceit and slander as this does not benefit the country in the medium and long term.
“We have called for a campaign based on issues and who can offer the best solutions to the woes faced by the people from a declining ringgit to the high living costs.”
People should also be informed about how any incoming government wants to tackle the economic woes, which may worsen over time, he told a press conference here today.
Lim had earlier referred to false claims about DAP being a communist sympathiser, anti-religious, and promoter of the LGBT community.
“I challenge all of these slandering peddlers to name who are the DAP leaders so we can take them to court and let the truth be known.
“Do not make a generalised viewpoint. Name the DAP leaders. We are waiting to take you to court,” Lim said.
Any party that harps on slander to win votes is one that is lost and unable to produce solutions to people’s growing woes, he said.
Lim also responded to the notion that PN is campaigning by fanning fears about BN and PH possibly having a post-electoral pact after the 15th general election (GE15).
He said PH too can turn around and say that one vote for PN is a vote for PAS.
“God help us if PAS was to manage our economy. We have seen examples in Kelantan,” he said. – The Vibes, November 11, 2022
