KUALA LUMPUR – Datuk Ahmad Amzad Hashim, the PAS candidate for the Kuala Terengganu parliamentary seat, refuses to be affected by any criticism or negative sentiments from outside parties, as he wants to focus on his work as a representative of the people.
Amzad said he does not have time to argue or point a finger at others because he is prioritising the needs of the people.
Amzad said this in response to the campaign rhetoric and speeches of a few candidates in the 15th general election (GE15) who tend to attack their opponents’ personalities instead of talking about the struggles that are necessary to be undertaken.
A check by Getaran, the Malay-language sister portal of The Vibes, on the PAS Kuala Terengganu Facebook page found that Amzad had reportedly saved his salary and allowances to help the locals since his appointment as deputy minister of science, technology and innovation in 2020.
It is believed that Amzad, who is defending the Kuala Terengganu seat, has used the income he received to buy 100 units of devices for students to comfortably undertake home-based teaching and learning.
His contributions and duties as an MP were also recognised by netizens and local voters.
He is hailed as a politician who has a variety of ideas and who has successfully managed a large number of ministry programmes.
However, netizens claim that his name has not stood out because it has been eclipsed by the “branding” of the then minister, Khairy Jamaluddin.
A PAS spokesman in Kuala Terengganu also asked the voters to once again give victory to Amzad, who is contesting under the Perikatan Nasional banner.
“The country needs such caring and clean leaders.
“Come on, people of Kuala Ganu, let Datuk Amzad Hashim win,” he said.
In the last general election in 2018, Amzad had won the Kuala Terengganu seat under the PAS ticket, with a majority of 42,998 votes.
He defeated Barisan Nasional’s Datuk Wan Nawawi Wan Ismail and Pakatan Harapan’s Datuk Raja Kamarul Bahrin Shah Raja Ahmad. – The Vibes, November 13, 2022
